Humans are the ultimate controllers of trash. The entire kachra (trash) market is in our hands. Ganda hai par dhandha hai (it might be dirty, but it's business).
Tell me, have you ever really thought about what happens to the waste we throw away? The truth is, waste is inevitable. Let's take the case of a typical household from a metro city like Mumbai. Every household in Mumbai adds about 2 kg of trash to the pile of kachra in our landfills every single day. Landfilling is the worst possible way to manage waste!
This simulation gives you a glimpse of what you contribute and what your impact can be. It has room for a maximum of 3 households! So grab a friend or two to join you. Your share has already been added to the pile you see in front of you. In front of you are different action cards. There will be cards for every type of waste, each giving you an action you can take for that particular type of waste. These represent the same choices people in Mumbai face every day. Select a card, take an action, and watch how the pile reacts. Want more power? Try out different actions and see the heap grow, shrink, or change before your eyes.
Note: This experience works best with a WebCam on a laptop or desktop.

Disclaimer: Due to the absence of recent, definitive studies on Mumbai's waste, these figures are indicative estimates. They combine the latest available Mumbai data ranges (2011) with comparable current data from Pune to approximate the daily footprint of an average household.
